Now you see where I am going.   The Brilliant Purple stripping along with the Indian Yellow strips connect  all three canvases.  The purple works with the Prism Violet and Medium magenta on the left canvas.  The Indian yellow Hue works with the Red Iron Oxide and Mars Yellow on the right canvas.    also, having the stripping, narrower and located more in the middle, balances the stripping of the other two canvases.  The Middle canvas lives in the neutral space.

Next up is to finish the background around noon.  I need to do some tweaking before I move on to the music.

This is a small progress update. This last hour I spent working on the middle canvas.  My thought is to try to use it to connect the other two canvases.  I am thinking different shades of green in the background.  I have not had the time yet to add the stripping, which I think will bring the work together.    The stripping will close the deal.   But I made a couple of mistakes in color that had to be removed and the paint is slow to dry. Another quick update at the half hour.   The goal is to finish the background by noon.

Birthday2013_2

This is a 60 inch long painting, dinky by my standards, composed of three canvases.  If you want insight into the direction this artwork is going take a short trip back to Image 4 of Antonio Vivaldi’s Summer Allegro.   When time is limited I do the basics so that I can complete the Birthday painting on time.  What I am using this years, is what I am doing on the Vivaldi work.  Taking the thoughts and efforts put into that work and using them on this short work makes sense and eliminates a lot of decision-making.
