Imagine music theme, 2 panel 30 by 96 inches

The first flow of this music is done.  It went quite well.  When I find a section of music that I want to paint I always try to push it to the two edges with as many note objects as I can fit in the canvas I have prepped.  I sometimes take a number of evenings trying to decide the note size, and their separation.  It can get frustrating at times that I just cannot fit the music in the space provided.  I rarely compromise, and in a final acceptance I give up and  look for another piece of music.  Then it is the challenge to fit everything in and mistakes have been made in the past where I miss a note object and have to wipe clean the work I had done that night.  Even when no one will ever know, I do it all because I care about the music and want to  represent it in my art the best that I can.

Imagine 30 by 96 inches two panels:

I wanted this painting at this stage to appear blue, and finally that is what I got although it took a over four hours today to get this work were I could feel comfortable walking away.  There were lots of disappointed looks, many layers of now forgotten colors added and then washed off, and a couple of times I felt loss.  Strange feelings when you feel desperate to bring it altogether, and it just does not happen.

imagine first view while Chopin Fantasy Impromptu is done

I have forgotten about some quick final thoughts on Sandman: I like it more that it is done.  The red and the gold works well to where I may be using it for my new personnel photo on the website.  Interestingly, I may pose myself similar to  the photo of Jackson P in Life.

Anyway, Fantasy is done.  It is hard to like such a small canvas for it feels so restrictive as if the music is compressed to fit. What I discovered that makes this work solid are the green and red sections are balance it all in pieces of threes.  The final version is posted at my website,  www.scottvonholzen.com
