S_V_H I Call Your Name image3

I Call your Name 2 feet by 6 foot.  This easy going classic pop rock music should be a favorite for anyone that enjoys the Beatles sound.  Of the three versions of this music that are listened to each night two feature the Beatles with one of those featuring Ringo Star with the Traveling Wilburys.  There tempo is light and up beat.  The third version by the Mamas & the Papas is quite different being, softer, less sharp, with a deeper feeling. It is just as emotional, but in the opposite direction from the Beatles version. Since both style takes on this music have appeal. this canvas is going to have a bright appearance with the easy going  reds and light magentas. The use of the darker greens and blues will counter and slow the work down and giving it much needed depth. The challenge of this canvas is the flow of the color balance, not easy since the prominent colors are opposites.  The goal is not to diminish either.  We shall see.

I call your Name two feet by 6 feet canvas.   Since there are no current orders this song was chosen: it brings back memories, especially the Mamas & Pappas version.  Actually, I saw her standing there, was first chosen.  This Beatles Rock & Roll classic, has forever been a favorite, and it was the cruising through all the Beatles music in the search for Standing that Call was re-discovered as a piece of music written by John and Paul.  This then lead to another classic ballad, Stand by Me the Ben E. King music, that John Lennon covered.

Finding all this music to paint is an exception. There is the intention to put together the music and canvas for the next work, but that never seems to work.  It is hard to change the thought focus.
What happens  then, is hours, and sometimes days of frustration and anger over wasted time, before just the right music is found. The process then begins for a new canvas: are there interesting notes, will they fit on the chosen canvas, how good are the words to work with?

So, for once, we have months of work ahead with I Call your Name, I saw her Standing there, and Stand by me, all with a Beatles twist.  Strange, listening to the Beatles music up pops the desire to listen to a lot of Bruce Springsteen.  Somehow they relate, and from it all may come Thunder road.

We shall see.

S_V_H Ain’t No Sunshine image1

PreviewIn Sunshine you are seeing the same basic positioning that has been used for the last 3 paintings. It appears that a lot of voice in music is pretty centered.  These backgrounds always start this way:  strange, unconnected, with a lot of wandering colors. Maybe this is the landscape part of this art, and like any landscape there just is a lot of variety of colors and shapes spread randomly.   There is organization here, but at this stage of the artwork that is not significant: it will probably all be over painted tomorrow.   There is only so much of this look that can last and it will soon find itself hidden with only peeps  showing through to the top.   The reason for those changes is that this look does not hold the wall.  By burying it what remains for view will be enough to make a point. The point and purpose is to add depth to the work.
